Boredom!

Over these next 3 weeks I will probably be posting A LOT! Dillan has only been gone 1 day and I am so bored!I figure this would be a good time to finally make all those Pinterest crafts I have wanted to do, try new recipes so if they are a flop my husband doesn't have to gut them down, and deep clean the house! Hopefully I can keep busy so that the time goes fast.

So while my hard working husband is gone doing this....

and this...

(I don't know if this is really how it is, I just googled JRTC haha)

I will be at home doing this...

and this...

Lets all hope that the next 3 weeks go by SUPER fast!

The Joys of Living the Army Life

Today was quite a busy day for the Warby's! With Dillan getting ready to go to JRTC our living room has Army 'things' scattered everywhere. I don't even know what half of it is used for, but as I read each thing off the list Dillan will pick it up and throw it in a new pile. Today he brought home some things that needed his name sewn on them. I looked at each one and thought "how in the world is this very large bag, that doesn't bend, going fit through my sewing machine." After a few attempts I figured it would probably be much easier to just hand sew them on. I got half way through with the first one and my needle broke right in half! In the process of hand sewing them I broke 3 hand needles, that's right 3! (I couldn't even hand sew a whole one on without the needles breaking) After brain storming for a minute I hollered for Dillan to come help me. The only successful way I could come up with was to have Dillan hold the sewing machine in the air so that there was room to fit the massive bags under it, around it, and through it. The whole time our conversation went like this.

"Can you hurry this is really uncomfortable."

"I promise I am trying to hurry but this is no easy task."

For each new item that needed to be sewn we found a different way of holding the sewing machine. Sometimes it was on the table held up with blocks while Dillan would balance it and hold the bag from falling off the table. We were laughing and giggling like it was the funniest thing we had ever done. After each one was done we would look at it and laugh for awhile wondering how it was so crooked at some parts. It was quite the adventure and it took some time but finally it got done! Now on to packing sleeping bags, canteens, and a whole bunch of ACU's. :)

This is what one of the bags looks like that I was trying to sew!

I am definitely not looking forward to him leaving for a little bit but it sure has been fun helping him pack and learning what all the nifty Army 'things' are. :)

Happy Birthday Dillan!

Yesterday was Dillan's 21st birthday! He had to work all day, so I made the cake and prepared dinner. Needless to say it was an adventurous day.

It all started when I looked at the box of cake mix to see what I needed to make the cake and realized we didn't have 3 eggs. So I took a walk to the grocery store and bought some eggs. I then decided that it was way too hot to turn on the oven and bake a cake. So instead I practiced killing some zombies with my brother. Once I baked the cake, and let it cool, and took them out of the pans, I started to frost. Dillan wanted a German Chocolate Cake. I did the middle layer and the top and thought, "I wonder how to do the sides?" After a quick call to my mom I decided to just wing it! I called her back a few minutes later and stated, "Mom, I feel like I'm serving the boogeyman's head on a platter!"

I don't think it turned out too bad after all!

when Dillan got home I showed him my masterpiece cake and he grinned from ear to ear! He went straight outside to start the grill and answer some Happy Birthday messages.

I made him take the traditional "smile with your cake!" picture :)

After making a few phones calls....

this is what the rest of the night consisted of :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DILLAN!
